It’s often assumed that you can only play on the easiest difficulty, or that you pick a character or class that’s “easy to play” in games like Overwatch because you’re not good enough for the ones that require high skill. This notion is exacerbated when you’re a woman or simply not a straight cis man. By the end, the frustration I had experienced resulted in a stronger appreciation for what has to be one of the most accessible games I’ve played. And yet every time, I got the feeling I was being cared for that the game didn’t think less of me for struggling and that there was no shame in sometimes resigning, saying “yes please” and continuing on with the rest of this electrifying experience.
